Our letters to Santa
Class V42 is participating in the magic of Macy’s letter to Santa. We want to help contribute to the Make-A-Wish foundation by putting our letters in Santa’s mailbox at the Staten Island Mall. Please read our Santa letters and if you are interested in helping raise money for the foundation visit macys.com/believe.
Continuation From the Book
The students’ Listen to the online story My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother by Patricia Polacco on www.storylineonline.net . After reading the story, the students’ are going to be broken up into 4 small groups. Each group is going to be assigned a specific task.
Group 1: You are going to make a list of all the different names people use to call their grandparents.
Group 2: This group is going to define the word homeland. You are than going to list 5 different homelands of those from the students in your class.
Group 3: This group is going to write down different ways that kids are teased by family members.
Group 4: This group is going to write about Trisha’s wish? Describe what is was and how she got ot it.

The students’ are going to answer the following questions based on the book “My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother” by: Patricia Polacco
1. Who are the characters in the story?
2. Where did the story take place? Be Descriptive!
3. What was the problem that happened in the story?
4. What events took place in the story to come to a solution?
5. what was the solution?
The children are going to break into groups to answer these questions. There will be one recorder for each group that will blog the answers onto the webpage.
Writing Piece
The students were to pretend that they were farmers and it had not rained in a while. They had to come up with a rap or a poem that would have the rain come down. Please read class V42′s work. The students’ came up with some very interesting pieces and are excited to share them with you.
